A different kind of Spain...

Close your eyes and imagine Spain--what is the first thing that comes to mind?  Most likely not what you see in this video.

People have often laughed at me, and/or thought I was joking when I've told them that in my part of Spain people play bagpipes and wear kilts.  Spain is a very diverse country, a blend of different histories and cultures, and most people are unfamiliar with the culture of Galicia, where all of my Spanish family originate from.  (Here is a helpful Wikipedia entry if you'd like to know more.)  Like Ireland, Galicia has major historic ties to everything Celtic; Celts in Galicia can be traced back to the 11th century BC!

This video was taken on our first day in Spain, the afternoon after our flights landed.  Emily and I were dead tired, but couldn't resist the urge to check out the Feira Franca, a local annual party in the streets of Pontevedra that celebrates what life was like here several centuries ago...by recreating it.  Unfortunately, I brought only my point-and-shoot, so my apologies for the quality of the video.
